What are your neighbors like? (The ones you live near or next to, not the ones in your Vox neighborhood!)
Even though I'm currently working across the hall from my neighbor (although I'm not sure she knows that), I don't know much about them. I know the husband smokes, they have 2 kids (but they may or may not be step-kids to one of the parents), and they quite possibly have one of the dumbest dogs ever. Nevertheless, they're still a slight improvement over the last few people who have lived there. The people who lived there when I was a baby broke into our house and stole money & jewelry from us and the older son of the most recent people to live there would stand in the window facing our computer room wearing a long, black coat & sunglasses and just stare into our house. It was a little creepy. (I think they eventually sent him off to military school in Ohio or something.)
What are your travel plans for this spring/summer?
Right now, unless I have a job/interview at the time, I'm planning on going to Anaheim with my mom in July. She as a conference and/or reunion down there and we're planning on hitting Disneyland while we're there.
I'm also planning on moving from my parents' house to my own apartment this summer. That counts as travel, right?
What's your favorite thing about being sick?
This QotD is a little psychic because I was going to write up a post about how I'm mad that the 8th graders I teach got me sick for Spring Break.
Anyway, I don't have a favorite thing about being sick. My throat hurts, my nose runs, and my face gets raw from blowing my nose so much. The only good thing about being sick this week is that I don't really have to go anywhere. Except on Thursday - I hope this cold is (mostly) over by then.
What one common food item do you refuse to eat?
Chocolate. But really, that's all my sister's fault.
What was the #1 song on the radio when you were born?
Book, magazine, catalog, nutritional information, billboard, website, newspaper... What are you currently reading and would you recommend it to others?
I'm actually reading two books right now. (Well, technically 3 but I haven't picked one up since Christmas.)
First up, London by Edward Rutherfurd. This is the third "saga" book I've read by him and so far (I'm only 300+ pages in and not quite up to 1300 AD yet) I'm enjoying it. The book is about the history of London from when Julius Caesar came to sometime in the mid to late 20th century. The paperback edition I have is just under 1200 pages long so if you want to read it (and I do recommend it if you enjoy historical fiction, London, English history, etc.) make sure you have plenty of time.
Next up is Darkly Dreaming Dexter by Jeff Lindsay. This book has been on my list of books to read ever since I started watching "Dexter" the show (2 weeks ago). They had a copy in the campus bookstore so I picked it up when I was in there yesterday. I'm only 3 (4?) chapters in but again, I'm enjoying it. The place I stopped last night is probably a quarter of the way through the first episode of the show. Having watched the show before reading the book it's nice to see things more clearly in my head while I'm reading it. I've heard the show kind of veered off from the books at some point so it'll be interesting to see when and where that happens.

What's the best thing about today?
The Oscars! Jon Stewart's hosting so it should be pretty good. Although I really have no idea who's nominated for what this year and, like usual, I don't think I've seen many (any?) of the movies nominated for Best Picture.
On a semi-related Jon Stewart note: I think I had a dream last night where I was at a convention (which was weird since I had a dream about Comic-Con a week ago) and I was going around trying to get autographs from all the Daily Show correspondents. I was carrying around America: The Book and I remember getting Stephen Colbert and Rob Coddry to sign it but I'm not sure if I got Ed Helms to sign it. It was a pretty weird and random dream.
What, if anything, did you put off all weekend?
Finishing my unit plan and some homework for my Reading in the Content Field class (although I did do some other productive stuff like buying new clothes). However, I still have tomorrow to do all that and they aren't due until Wednesday & Thursday. Thank goodness for 3-day weekends.
Who or what do you really love?
