(I thought I had this video saved somewhere but I couldn't find it anywhere so I had to go to YouTube. :-P) Anyway, every time I hear this song I'm reminded of a music related meme that I did where you took the lyrics of a song, translated them into German then French then back to English. I did it with this song and somehow at the end "peaches" became "fishings". It makes me laugh every time I think about it.
For, like, 5 minutes. But that was enough. And since it's 2:30 in the morning and I'm too awake to sleep, I'm going to tell you all about it.
First, the concert. Awesome. Loved it. (Well, except for the moshing. Never been a big fan of moshing.) I was a little disappointed they didn't play "Volcano" but they played "Kitty," "Lump," and "Peaches" so I was still happy. Pictures are below. They're crappy pictures but, what do you expect from a camera phone? (I would have taken more but I was afraid of dropping my phone with everyone moshing around me.)
Then, after the concert, one of our friends calls and tells us that the Presidents might be coming over to another friend's apartment to party with us. So we hope and pray (asking for just 5 minutes) and then we get another call saying yes, they're coming over. So we run around getting things ready - and they come. It was awesome. They may have only stayed for 5 minutes (we're geeks not hard-core party-ers) but for the 5 minutes they were there, it was great. I may not have gotten anything autographed or a picture taken with them but I did talk to one of them and I was in the same room as them. Below is a picture of their set list (autographed for one of the people at the party) and my friend's backstage pass.
And of course, none of this would have been possible without Jules (the one who got the Presidents to come back to the apartment), so a HUGE thanks to her. You have made my
And now it's time to try and calm down some so I can actually sleep.
Presidents of the United States of America concert tonight! Yay! It'll be my first concert since freshman year. Wow. Although it's not my fault there were so many people that I couldn't get into see Flogging Molly at Bumbershoot 2005. (Ok, it probably is since I could have gotten there earlier. But STILL...) Anyway, back to PotUSA. I'm glad they changed the venue after they realized that more than 500 people would want to see them perform. I guess Harvey Danger was originally supposed to perform but they dropped out. I hope they come another time though because I would love to see Harvey Danger in concert. My next concert goal is to actually see Muse the next time they come into town. (And no, I'm not flying out to Chicago to see them at Lollapalooza - costs too much.)
To celebrate the PotUSA concert tonight, here's one of my favorite songs of their's:
