Maggie's 90s Music Monday post combined with ripping a bunch of CDs this weekend caused me to search YouTube for random/obscure/forgotten 90s songs. It was a surprisingly successful search.
"On My Own" by Peach Union:
"Ready to Go" by Republica:
"Kiss the Rain" by Billie Myers:
(I admit it, I still listen to my Peach Union and Billie Myers CDs. Although I can't quite remember where I heard of Peach Union or why I bought their "Audiopeach" CD.)
Actually, right now, it's more like can't speak.
My fever may have passed Thursday but now my sore throat is starting to impair my job. It was horrible; for most of the day I sounded like a teenage boy whose voice was changing. In 6th period I got the students to do things for me by promising to whisper if they did. (My whispers came out like squeaks which greatly amused them.) I spent an extra half-hour after school today making copies of back-up worksheets in case I really don't have a voice tomorrow and can't verbally teach the new unit. I wish I could take a sick day but since I've already missed 2 days and we get Memorial Day off, I'm down to exactly 52 days of student teaching - which is the minimum amount we're supposed to do. Oh well. I guess I'll just have to stay silent for most of the day and only speak when absolutely necessary. Oh, and try not to yell over my students too much.
Show us a great April Fools' Day joke.
What was the #1 song on the radio when you were born?
What is the last song you downloaded? Bonus: Share it with us!
I woke up this morning with a weird urge to listen to The B-52's. (Of course, I'm going to have these songs stuck in my head for the rest of the day but who cares?)
Video: Show us the first music video you ever saw on TV.
Random funny thing I saw the other day: Go to Google. Type "find Chuck Norris". Click "I'm Feeling Lucky".
And a music video for a song that I've had stuck in my head thanks to the commercials for the "Buzz Cuts" album from Music Space.
If you missed this past Sunday's episode of "The Simpsons" then you missed one of the greatest episodes. It was all about Homer & Marge in the 1990s and Homer's foray into the grunge music scene. And it was awesome. Below is a YouTube clip of all the songs from the episode but if you want to watch the whole thing you can do so here at Stage6. I highly recommend watching the whole thing because at the end there's a great bit about what's coming in the new millennium and how there can be no president worse than Bill Clinton because he lied in court.
When I accidentally deleted all my music off my computer I freaked out because I didn't have any of it backed up. This lead me to scouring the internet looking for all the songs I lost. Shortly after finishing that I found some CDs that I had burned as backups for albums that I had previously deleted from my computer. Today I opened them up only to discover that 2 of them basically contained all the individual music files that I had lost at the end of December. And of course, since I didn't know they contained these files I found new copies and put them on my computer. So now I have to go through each disk file by file and see which songs I still have on my computer and which songs I have to copy over. Argh. Thank goodness my one class today was canceled so I have to the time to do all this. The other good thing about finding the disks is that they contain some songs that I wasn't able to find on the internet - like "Charlene (I'm Right Behind You)" and some hard to find mash-ups.
