I don't think he's released an mp3 version of this song yet but Party Ben recently posted a video mashup of "D.A.N.C.E." by Justice and "You Spin Me Round" by Dead or Alive on his website. It's pretty good - I hope he releases an mp3 soon.
I've got some Halloween treats to share today so I figured I'd get the first out of the way before I went to yoga.
This is a mashup by DJ John and it's a mashup between "Devil Went Down to Georgia" by The Charles Daniels Band and "D.E.V.I.L" by 666. Enjoy!
After clicking links on a few mashup websites yesterday I came across a mashup concept call "WiiJing". According to the official website:
Developed on the day before Christmas 2006, DJ Wiij is the original wireless DJing rig. Using 1 or 2 Nintendo Wiimote's (possibly even more), a PC with Bluetooth, and Native Instruments Traktor 3.0 (or any other DJ software program with keymapping), you are able to create your own wireless DJing control surface.
As gimmicky or toyish this looks, it really works, and works well. Each button on the Wiimote is mapped out to a function on the DJ software. For example, when pressing the A button, you might have it configured to trigger Play. Then you might configure left and right to control the crossfader, up and down pitch bend, B as an effect trigger etc etc. The best part is it is totally customizable! You can even just use 1 Wiimote in one hand and use the other to control a hardware mixer (if you can't get used to fading with a crosspad).
If you go to the WiiMixes part of the page, you can listen to a mix that WiiJ Timski put together. (It's 52 minutes long and 60 MB so I opted not to upload it to Vox.) Listening to it, you'd never think that it was made by waving a couple of Wiimotes around.
According to one of their news items, Nintendo is even aware of WiiJing as they used of clip of someone WiiJing in their E3 Press Conference video.
Personally I think WiiJing is pretty cool. I hope they put more mixes up in the coming months as I would love to hear more.
I just saw this over on Stereogum and I thought I'd share it. It's The Police's "Every Breath You Take" mashed with Snow Patrol's "Chasing Cars". It surprisingly works really well.
I think it's been well-documented that I'm a sucker for anything having to do with a Beatles song but today is Tax Day so the posting of this mashup is due to more than just my fondness of Beatles songs.
It's a semi-slowed down version of "Taxman" by the Beatles mashed with "Love Song" by The Cure. It's mellow and relaxing and I could almost see the song being used in a slow-motion scene in a movie. What type of scene, I have no idea but I could see it being used in a slo-mo scene.
I have about 50 mashups/remixes on my computer (not much but good mashups are hard to find). Anyway, one of my favorite Beatles' songs has always been "Eleanor Rigby" (Side story: On one of my family's old computers, whenever I played the song it would just play the background music and the chorus - not the verses; it was kinda nice actually) and when I found of mashup of "Eleanor Rigby" with "In My Head" by Queens of the Stone Age, I thought I'd check it out. The two songs actually work really well together.
