]]>As skittlefish so wonderfully (and yes, a little embarrassingly) mentioned, today was my birthday. While I didn't cry if I wanted to, I did do what I wanted to. This year that consisted of going to "Harold & Kumar", procrastinating (big surprise), and going out to dinner. This is the first time in five years I've been home to celebrate my birthday and since my mom is out of town my dad and I didn't really do much to celebrate. Although, this is my family we're talking about and we usually don't celebrate birthdays until after they've happened. Case in point, my sister says she won't mail my present until sometime this week and I'm fairly certain my grandmother has no idea it's my birthday.
Anyway, as I said I went to "Harold & Kumar Escape From Guantanamo Bay" and while it wasn't as good as the first one, it was pretty funny. It was especially nice to see Rob Coddry again (and Ed Helms) - I've missed both of them since they left "The Daily Show". To be honest, it was almost worth the $7.75(!) I paid to see it just for the "Dark Knight" preview in front of the movie. (Which, why is that movie not coming out until July?) But yeah, "Harold & Kumar" was pretty good. And of course Neil Patrick Harris was - wait for it - legendary (or is that awesome?). I also kind of want to watch the first one again. If only I hadn't used up my free rentals on "The Hoax" and "Gone Baby Gone"... (and it was available on Hulu or Fancast)
So "Grey's Anatomy" totally stole the idea of a live grenade/bomb in someone's chest cavity from an episode of "Emergency!". Except since "Emergency!" was made in the 70's, the only way you'd ever know the guy had something in his chest was because they put a little bit of red on his shirt - you never see the actual hole and hardly any blood. (Seriously, throughout all the seasons, you never see anybody actually get a needle put in them - they always zoom in on a face or put props in front of it. It's actually kind of funny.) Also, when they finally get the grenade out of him, the bomb squad puts it in a padded bucket, sticks the bucket in the back of their station wagon, and then drives off with it. What makes this whole thing even stranger is that the episode of "Emergency!", titled "How Green Was My Thumb?", aired January 26, 1974 and the first part of the "Grey's Anatomy" two-parter, titled "It's the End of the World", aired February 4, 2006 - 32 years & 9 days later. I'd say the writers of "Grey's Anatomy" watched the episode of "Emergency!" when writing their episode but the DVD it's on didn't come out until a year after the "Grey's Anatomy" episode aired. Eh. Who knows? I just thought that was interesting.

If you missed this past Sunday's episode of "The Simpsons" then you missed one of the greatest episodes. It was all about Homer & Marge in the 1990s and Homer's foray into the grunge music scene. And it was awesome. Below is a YouTube clip of all the songs from the episode but if you want to watch the whole thing you can do so here at Stage6. I highly recommend watching the whole thing because at the end there's a great bit about what's coming in the new millennium and how there can be no president worse than Bill Clinton because he lied in court.
