I don't watch "American Idol" (in fact, I wish it would go away) but you cannot deny the hilariousness of this clip:
I can't believe I just posted something "American Idol" related. I think I have to go take another shower now.
Who or what do you really love?
So Heath Ledger's dead and it just boggles my mind. I think it'll take awhile before it actually sinks in that he's dead. I feel so sorry for his daughter. She's what? 2? No kid should have to lose a parent at that young of age.
Wow. So, yeah. In happier (I guess) news it got up to 21 degrees F today. It is currently (7:50 PM) 10.9 degrees. They say it's supposed to get down to 4 tonight and up to 26 tomorrow and I'm inclined to believe them. It's so clear tonight too that the moon is freakishly full and bright. If it wasn't so cold I'd go out and look at it for awhile.
About 5 years ago CBC aired a Christmas special called "The True Meaning of Christmas Specials" directed by, produced by, and starring Dave Foley. It had cameos by Mike Myers, Jason Priestly, Elvis Stojko, and more Canadians. My favorite bit out of the whole show, the one I can still remember clearly, was when Dave Foley played David Bowie against Joe Flaherty's Bing Crosby. It was great. They even had "Bowie" tell "Bing" that his name is pronounced "Bowie" not "Booie". My problem now is, I can't seem to find a clip of it. They showed on CBC for a couple years every Christmas but then the year I was going to tape it for a friend of mine who loves Bowie, they didn't show it. I've searched everywhere for a clip (YouTube, Veoh, Daily Motion, even some not so legal sites) but I can't seem to find one. It's not even out on DVD in Canada (or anywhere for that matter) otherwise I would buy it up in a second. So since I can't seem to find the Dave Foley clip, you get to see the original David Bowie/Bing Crosby performance. Still a good clip but I would have love to have shown you the other one too.
Writers strike update: Ausiello reports how many episodes of your favorite (American) shows are left to air. I'm sad there's only one more new episode of "The Office" left. I guess I'll have to start pulling out my DVDs on Thursdays. (Or, you know, actually work on homework.)
I was flipping through the channels Wednesday night while I was watching "Criminal Minds" and came across "Bionic Woman" on NBC. I don't watch "Bionic Woman" but my parents do and they've mentioned that it's filmed in Vancouver (but then again, these days, what isn't?). However, I was still surprised when Callum Keith Rennie (or, as I like to call him, Ray #2 from "Due South") showed up as the bad guy in this week's episode. I only caught a glimpse of him before I went back to "Criminal Minds" but the next day I watched the whole episode and not only was he in the episode but Beth Broderick, Zelda from "Sabrina the Teenage Witch", was as well. (Not to mention that Molly Price, one of Jamie's handlers (?) on "Bionic Woman", was in a couple of episodes of "Without A Trace" last season playing Samantha's sister.) But wait, over on "Criminal Minds", Kaj-Erik Eriksen, Danny from "The 4400", was playing a subservient psycho killer. Then tonight I was watching this week's episode of "Bones" that I had on tape and Sam Jones III, Pete from "Smallville", showed up for a scene and 3 or 4 lines. Oh, and then I was watching season 10 of "Stargate SG-1" and Joshua Malina showed up on one of the episodes.
I need to stop watching so many shows. It's getting confusing keeping track of where I've seen which actor and when. I guess I should just be glad for imdb.com - it certainly helps answer a lot of those questions.
Shaun (Simon Pegg) from "Shaun of the Dead" is going to play Scotty in the new "Star Trek" movie.
I'll be honest, I'm not quite sure how I feel about this latest "Star Trek" movie. I guess I'll just have to hope that J.J. Abrams can pull it off. Although, it would be hard to ruin the series after "Enterprise".
So I have a lot of guilty pleasures when it comes to watching television. One of those guilty pleasures is "Cold Case" (we won't discuss all the other ones right now). This is the one show that can make me cry at the end of every episode. (They had an episode where they used only Tim McGraw songs and I told myself I wasn't going to cry because it was country music but I did anyway.) My favorite episode of the show though has to be the episode "Creatures of the Night" which uses the music from "The Rocky Horror Picture Show" as well as showing clips from the movie. What makes this episode even better is that they got Barry Bostwick to be in the episode (he plays a crazy, Mormon serial killer).
I always love it when TV shows do stuff like that. It always seems to make what you're watching a little more enjoyable.
I wish they would put "Cold Case" on DVD but because the show uses so much music the cost of each season would be way above the average cost of a TV show on DVD. They could remove the music to make the sets cheaper but the music is so essential to each episode I think they would lose something. Oh well. There are always other ways to get a hold of the episodes. ;-)
A cute and funny video about what "The Office" did on their summer vacation.
In related news, not only did Jenna Fischer break her back this summer but she's also getting divorced.
Way back in 2001 Jet Li and Jason Statham were in a movie together called "The One". It involved, basically, traveling between parallel universes and kicking ass. Now, on August 24th, they reunite for a new movie called "War". When I first saw an ad for "War" I thought it was a sequel to "The One" just without the traveling between parallel universes - but still kicking ass. However, having now watched the official trailer for the movie, I know they're not related - they just have very similar plots. In both Jet Li kills Jason Statham's partner and he (Jason Statham) must find Jet Li to avenge his partner's death. They also both involve lots of fighting, guns shootouts, and explosions. Here's the trailer for "War":
Will I see this movie? Probably. Will I see it in the theater? Maybe - I might just wait until it comes out on DVD to watch it. I'm sure I'll see it eventually though since Jason Statham is in it. (Yes, I am shallow like that.)
To inform you that Bruce Campbell will be in the new series "Burn Notice" starting Thursday, June 28th at 10 PM on USA. I'll be watching. Will you?
