Went to see "The Dark Knight" today and it was excellent. A bit long but still excellent. Heath Ledger was brilliant as the Joker. (I can see why there's talk of a posthumous Oscar.) My only complaint is that it was a bit predictable at times although I think that's due to the fact that I've seen to many movies.
I guess I do have one more complaint - the people sitting next to me would not shut up during the movie. I swear the girl sitting right next to me repeated about 1/4 of the lines and made comments on the other 3/4. I'm fine with people commenting during the previews but once the movie starts, talking should stop. Unless you're watching the movie in the privacy of your own home. (I wasn't the only one who was annoyed with her either. The people sitting behind her kept trying to shut her up too. Unfortunately, to no avail.)
But anyway. A++. Would go see (and probably will) again.
So "Grey's Anatomy" totally stole the idea of a live grenade/bomb in someone's chest cavity from an episode of "Emergency!". Except since "Emergency!" was made in the 70's, the only way you'd ever know the guy had something in his chest was because they put a little bit of red on his shirt - you never see the actual hole and hardly any blood. (Seriously, throughout all the seasons, you never see anybody actually get a needle put in them - they always zoom in on a face or put props in front of it. It's actually kind of funny.) Also, when they finally get the grenade out of him, the bomb squad puts it in a padded bucket, sticks the bucket in the back of their station wagon, and then drives off with it. What makes this whole thing even stranger is that the episode of "Emergency!", titled "How Green Was My Thumb?", aired January 26, 1974 and the first part of the "Grey's Anatomy" two-parter, titled "It's the End of the World", aired February 4, 2006 - 32 years & 9 days later. I'd say the writers of "Grey's Anatomy" watched the episode of "Emergency!" when writing their episode but the DVD it's on didn't come out until a year after the "Grey's Anatomy" episode aired. Eh. Who knows? I just thought that was interesting.
I know there are some people in my 'hood who watch "Chuck" (Chuckers? Chucksters?) so if you haven't already heard: NBC is airing the last 2 episodes of "Chuck" tonight. The first one airs at 8 PM and the second one airs at 10 PM. Even though I'm sad these are the last episodes of "Chuck" I'm happy to finally have new episodes of a TV show that isn't a reality show.
Oh, and in the continuing weather saga - it got down to 0 degrees F sometime last night (which WeatherBug is reporting as -0 which is impossible *is a math geek*). Thankfully it's warmed up to 3 degrees and I'm hoping it hits 4 or 5 before I leave for class. And thank God tomorrow's Friday so I only have to brave the cold to and from one class. Hopefully it starts warming up around here soon. And by warming up I mean reaching freezing at some point.
They're turning "Shrek" into a musical. And it's debuting (doing previews, whatever) in Seattle. I have no idea how good it will actually be but I think I'm going to try and get tickets. (That is, if I'm not too busy interviewing/getting a job/moving/working.) They mention "The Little Mermaid: The Musical" in the article and even though it's been getting some bad reviews I'll probably still try to see it if it ever comes to town. Oh, and mid-June needs to come quickly so I can go see "Avenue Q".
Tonight's episode of "Chuck" is (I believe) the last episode until the strike is over. So what is the local NBC station showing? "Chuck", you say? Wrong, I say. They're showing "Celebrating the Life of Ruth Bell Graham" instead. WTF? They couldn't wait until next week to show it? Was it really so important to show "Celebrating the Life of Ruth Bell Graham" tonight? Thankfully, hopefully, it only lasts an hour so I can still watch the new episodes of "Heroes" and "Life". It also lets me watch "The Year Without Santa Claus" but still. You don't bump "Chuck" to show some thing (it's seriously almost infomercial-like) about Billy Graham's wife instead.
I'm glad I started um, "collecting" episodes of "Chuck" when I did.
Despite the fact that it never got above 28 degrees today, today was not a bad day. Well, at least TV-wise.
Not only is there a possible deal to end the WGA strike by Christmas but both "Chuck" and "Life" got picked up for full seasons. While I'm glad they both got picked up I'm surprised "Chuck" wasn't picked up before the strike began. Everyone I know who watches it loves it and it seems to be doing fairly well in the ratings. I guess I'll forgive them for taking so long and just be happy it was picked up. With last week's (the week before last?) news that "Dirty Sexy Money" got picked up for a full season, it's been pretty good TV-wise. Except for the fact that, as of now, the WGA strike is still going on.
I am sad that after tonight there's only one more new episode of "Heroes". Tonight and next week better make up for the horrible beginning to the season.
Shaun (Simon Pegg) from "Shaun of the Dead" is going to play Scotty in the new "Star Trek" movie.
I'll be honest, I'm not quite sure how I feel about this latest "Star Trek" movie. I guess I'll just have to hope that J.J. Abrams can pull it off. Although, it would be hard to ruin the series after "Enterprise".
I know only 3 episodes have aired but whenever "Chuck" comes out on DVD I'm totally buying it.
I wish "Heroes" would move some storylines along already. Like someone on a message board I frequent said, this is the third time they've shown us what Maya & Alejandro can do in almost the exact same way. I don't know. Maybe it's because I'm watching as they come out whereas I watched the entire first season in one sitting. Hopefully things pick up soon.
While I'm talking about NBC's Monday night lineup - I don't know why I keep watching "Journeyman". Once the opening credits roll I'm usually on my computer checking e-mail and stuff while half watching the show. However, I can't seem to make myself totally stop watching it. I'm kind of hoping it gets canceled just so I don't have to make up my mind.
So if you're a "Buffy" fan you probably already know they've been releasing the 8th season in comic book form. Well now they're releasing the 6th season of "Angel" as a comic book/graphic novel as well. Here's a look at the first cover art:

This weekend has been an action-packed weekend.
Ok, I admit it - the only reason I decided to go to this movie was because Christian Bale is in it. I've never been a big fan of Russell Crowe and other than "Blazing Saddles" and a few episodes of "Wild, Wild West", Westerns aren't really my thing. However, I was very surprised at how much I ended up liking this movie. Russell Crowe and Christian Bale have great chemistry and totally make the movie with their interactions - in fact, I even started to like Russell Crowe a little bit. All in all this was an excellent movie. Alan Tudyk got to kick some ass (well, kind of), Angel from "X-Men 3" goes a little crazy, and the kid who played Christian Bale's oldest son looks like a young Josh Hartnett. If movie tickets weren't so expensive I'd go see it again but instead I'll just wait to rent it when it comes out on DVD.
