I have only seen 17 of the 100 greatest movies

So I've been on kind of a classic movie kick lately. Well, not really "classic" but more of a 60's/70's movie kick. Last night I watched "The Graduate" (and let me tell you, hearing the same 3 Simon & Garfunkel songs over and over and over again gets pretty annoying pretty quick) and I feel like a fucking idiot.

Wayne's World

As I watched last night, I realized that the scene in "Wayne's World" (disappointingly not on AFI's 100 Greatest Movies list) where Wayne goes to the church to stop Cassandra's wedding is parody/rip-off of the final scene in "The Graduate". *headdesk* Yeah. I r smrt. Oh well, the next time I watch "Wayne's World" I'll just appreciate the scene more.

Tonight I continue the 60's/70's movie kick with "All the President's Men" and next week it's "Tootsie" - which is on AFI's 100 Greatest Movies list so that'll make 18.

I'm totally looking forward to watching it. Although I just realized that by watching "The Graduate" and "All The President's Men" this week and then "Tootsie" next week, I'm having a two-week Dustin Hoffman marathon. I feel like I should watch "Meet The Fockers" too just to get his later years in there.

Wow, I just went down the list and realized I've seen 34. I attribute this to my parents' love of classic movies in general, and my dad's for war movies. Because, come on, how many people our age are going to sit down and watch 'The Bridge Over the River Kwai' if it isn't the only thing on in the house?

What I find interesting is that now, 10 years after they came up with the list, they're having people vote again for the 100 greatest movies. Did that many "great" movies really come out in the last 10 years?
