Book recommendations
Spring break is coming and I'm looking for things to read (I don't feel like reading, or re-reading, any of the books I own) so I was just wondering if any of you have any books you want to recommend. Fiction, non-fiction, sci-fi, murder, horror, whatever - any genre is fine, I'll read just about anything. Just don't recommend the "Harry Potter" series because well, I've already read them. So leave a comment with your recommendation(s) and I'll check them out over the next week.
Thanks! I'm looking forward to seeing what comes up.
Comments
'Running with Scissors'- Augesten Burroughs: the memoir of a boy who was foisted off on his mother's (less-than-stable) psychiatrist. Crazy, touching, hysterical and tragic by turns. Made into a movie which I have yet to see.
'Bet Me'- Jennifer Cruzie: my favorite chick-lit read. Yes, there's romance, but there's also chicken marsala, Elvis movies, and a brawl at a wedding. Oh, and four guys singing Sweeney Todd in an Italian restaurant.
'Good Omens'- Neil Gaiman/Terry Pratchett: an angel and a demon set out to prevent the Apocalypse by turning the anti-Christ into a normal kid. Produced roll-on-the-floor laughter the first time I read it (also has footnotes!).
I actually keep meaning to check out some of Neil Gaiman's stuff (I see him mentioned often enough online) so I'll definitely check it out. Thanks!
